Sorry for being inactive! So much to do, so little time. So instead of trying to post every day, I'll try for once a week, or just whenever I can. No need to put on the extra pressure. Anyhow, on with today's post!
Volunteering! There's nothing like a get together with people from your community to do some awesome work. Doing things like community service and helping clean up around the area or even gardening is great. Well, the reason I made volunteering this weeks post is because earlier today, I signed up to volunteer at the local community theater. As an art student, I'll be able to get in a lot of experience helping around, with things such as prop preparations, costume design and much more! I was asked to help usher this weekend for a play; I can't wait! It'll be a fun first time. On my way home afterwards, as I was driving passed the church, the message board read, "Volunteers are wingless angels," and it's a great feeling.
Life will give you opportunities to do what it is you want to do in life. When those opportunities come knocking on your door or if you're inspired to do something, answer the door, do something about that idea, cause you never know if that one opportunity will lead you to another door for you to enter.

Happy Go Lucky
Alright, so some of you are wondering why I don't post every day. Why? Cause I'm a human being who needs to get homework done and also be well rested for school the next day. So on my school days, much like today, I'll most likely be posting about the previous day (since I'm too busy catching Z's the previous night). Anyhow, on to today's/yesterdays entry!
What does it mean to be Happy go lucky? Does it mean that if you're a happy person you'll end up being lucky in life? Not entirely. It means to be a carefree, cheerful, positive person who looks on the bright side of things, and or someone who gets high from just plain living. Yeah, that pretty much describes who I am. But yesterday, was literally a happy go lucky day.
In my Art History class, each week we are to bring in a type of art work as an example of what it is as homework. If we were to bring in an example of a painting, we'd bring in water color, oil or an acrylic painting. Well, I wasn't sure if we had to bring anything to class, so I didn't take anything with me. Somehow it slipped by me that we were suppose to bring an example of Arts and Crafts, a work of art that is hand crafted. In my previous post, remember how I said I finished knitting my scarf? I was wearing it all day at school. When I presented in class, I was honest with my classmates and said I wasn't sure if we had to bring in anything, but somehow luck was on my side and I did bring my homework unknowingly! It was around my neck the whole time.
Be happy, cause it's Lady Lucks calling card! When she decides to come and drop you a visit, give her a smile and a thank you, cause you know you're going to want her to visit you again real soon.
This is Jack-Jack saying, until next time... Good Luck! ^^

A Meaningful Scarf
Good evening peoples! My apologies for not posting anything yesterday. When you're busy all day long you get tired and fall asleep the moment you get home. I ate lunch and saw the movie Carrie with my cousin, shopped for an hour, watched Ghost Adventures with my dad for 3 hours, then a glorious moment happened...
I finished knitting my scarf!!!
Every night before I go to bed, for fifteen minutes in quietness, I would knit several rows while thinking about my day, about tomorrow, the past, and the future. I would think about anything that needed to be thought about, especially if it made me happy. They say that when you spend time thinking in quietness, when you're meditating, you're training or developing your intuition senses. When I knit, I like to call those fifteen minutes, my meditation time. During this time, I like to think that with every stitch I make, I am putting a single thought that I think into it. Looking at it like that, will keep me even warmer during the winter this year. That's a very thoughtful scarf. Now that I'm done with it, I'll be starting another one! This one that I finished is green and white, the next one will probably be blue and white. I wonder who I'll give it to.

A Friendly Halloween Visit
Hi all! Hope everyone had a nice Halloween this year. I know I did. From carving pumpkins in class at 8 in the morning, then having dinner and watching a costume contest at the casino with my grandmother, later handing out candy with my mom, to seeing some old friends after an entire year and talking non-stop till midnight. Yup, it was a long, eventful and wonderful day.
You know, when you make a close friend after a long time of hanging out together and just being the best of buds, then they suddenly decide they no longer want be friends with you for a reason that keeps you baffled; just because they push you out of their life doesn't mean they can push you out of their families life. The old friends I saw the other night, was my old friend Jam's family. Im a little surprised it took me a year just to drop by and say hi to all of them. They were really happy to see me. For over an hour we talked about how they're all doing and how Jam's been since she moved out of state for schooling. I have too say, I was speechless after hearing all that she's managed to accomplish and achieve since we stopped talking. Even though we're not friends anymore, I still wish for all her hopes and dreams too come true. I want her to know how very proud I am of her.
Once a friend, always a friend. Forgive and forget. When everyone's against you, there's always going to be that one person who's with you, even if you don't think so, could even be the most unlikely person.

Custom Costumes
That night is almost here, when the shadows get darker, candy gets sweeter, monsters come out to party, and the dentist get more visits!-- oops, scratch that last one. Hopefully everyone will be ready for tomorrow night, I know I am. Bought lollipops to share with my classmates and finished prepping my costume. It's fun putting together your own costume, especially when it's very last minute; you already have what you need, all you have to do is be creative.
Here's what I did for my costume this year: I have, black hiking boots for shoes, black pants, bought a plain white t-shirt from the art store cause I didn't want to destroy any of mine, and a simple black plaid vest. First, crinkle the shirt a bit, then with scissors, cut a few small holes around the bottom of the shirt, and rip some parts of the shirt. With black and red paint, you can make a mixture to look blood red, grab a few spoon fulls of that and splatter it on the front of the shirt. Don't forget to let it dry, it's going to be wet and will sink through the shirt. Let it air dry or use a hair blow dryer (which is what I did). Now in the morning, I'm getting up extra early to put a lot of hair product in my hair so it stays messy all day long. Then finally, with some left over paint, I swipe some of it over my cheek with my fingers, and done! This costume is no one in particular, just something simple to wear that also looks awesome!
This is Jack-Jack saying, until tomorrow... Good Night and unpleasant dreams. Bwahahaha~

New Friends
Another long day at school has come and gone. Although it wasn't boring, that's for sure. Today, my English class was cancelled for some reason I'm not quite sure of. Our class was still assigned to meet with our small peer review groups to edit our second essay of the semester. My group, Team Quill (I still think we could have chosen a better name) was the only group that decided to meet up in our classroom. Over the two hour period, my teammates: Fish, Coraline and Dragon (yep, I am giving them nicknames), while managing to go over each others papers, Dragon asked us what our first impressions were of each other when we first met on the first day of school. Coraline admitted that she thought Dragon was a tough guy who was about ready to punch someone. Honestly, I had the same impression of him. In reality, he's actually a nice, shy guy. Coraline tends to always have her hood on her head, her head on her desk, and her phone on her desk, but she's a lot more talkative and friendly than she may appear. Fish is the eldest in our class, a mellow military woman who works hard but also enjoys stirring up some fun in class, if it ever gets boring that is. Everyone thought I was the kind of person who just didn't want to be talked to and wanted to be completely left alone. Man, did I prove them wrong. I maybe a quiet person, but when I want to speak up and be heard, I'll say something for sure.
All in all, we had a great time spent together earlier today, full of jokes, stories, and laughter. Who knew we'd learn so much about each other in just a short time. That moment only comes to show: If you're going to pass judgement on a person, judge them based on who they are, and not who they appear to be.

A Busy Day to Cruise
Time sure flies when you're out and about, doing this and that, going to this place and that place. I had to get up early so I could get what I needed done on time, and I am not a morning person. No, I don't get grumpy (sometimes), more on the side of being sluggish, not wanting to get out of bed, and also because the days are starting to get much colder.
However, no matter how much I dread having to do so much stuff in one day, there's always a couple of things I look forward too that always seems to lift my spirits and in no time get my day going good and smoothly and that would be: Getting in my car, rolling down the windows a bit, plugging in my ipod/turning on the radio, and singing to all of my favorite songs throughout the whole entire ride. I may not be the best singer, but who doesn't want to have a good day just cruising along the freeway and back roads feeling like they're in their own little world of bliss? (Always pay attention to the road too!)

Birthday Gift
What makes for a good- no, great- birthday gift? Is it something store bought? Being treated out to some place special? Perhaps something hand made? The answer, is all of the above! So many people think that every gift needs to be store bought and wrapped up neatly, but that's not entirely true.
Today was my grandfathers birthday. How did we celebrate and what did I give him? My mom and sister came over and we all sang to him happy birthday first of course. Can't have a birthday without the birthday song ya know. My mom brought over his favorite meal, chow mein. What I gave him, I had been working on last night. It was a drawing of a deer, or a buck. He's a hunter, and now that it's hunting season, he hasn't gotten much luck out there so far. So in a way, he was happy too have gotten his first buck of the season. One that he'll be able to keep around throughout every season. Knowing that I've made him happy, makes me happy too.
Everyone is different, we like and dislike different things. If it's something store bought, something they need, if it makes them happy then do that. If there's some place they really want to go that will make them happy, then do that too. So if you're unsure of what to get, or perhaps don't have the money for what they want, at least spend some time with them. Even if it's just saying, "Happy Birthday", that says you remembered them on their special day. Something from someone no matter what it is, will always be special to the receiver because they know, you had thought of them. It's always the thought that counts.

A Night to Relax with New Beginnings
Alright! My first dose of optimism! Every night (or most nights), I'll be posting a little bit about my day, no matter how bad or boring the day maybe there's always a little something that will bring joy into those depressing, irritating, and stressful days. No matter how big or small those bits of awesomeness will be, it'll always be better than nothing at all. This journey to finding everyday happiness with you all will be fun! I just know it.
My name is Jack-Jack, and starting tonight, I'll be your optimistically gnarly guide. ^^
Where to begin... I'll start with the fact that my weeks have been so busy now that I've been losing sleep, focusing on homework non-stop and have had little time to actually do what I want! It's so stressful. But that's to be expected of a college student though, right? Right. Well now that it's the weekend I'm able to sleep in, let my brain let loose for a bit, and tonight I've actually gotten the time to sit down, watch anime and relax for the first time in a couple weeks. I'm going to enjoy the rest of tonight so it will last me the rest of the week, perhaps the following week too. It feels great! On the other upside of today, I was able to hangout with my little sister for awhile and get some books from the book store. What book did I get?
Well, that's the end of my first dose. Always remember, even though working hard is great, taking some time off to regenerate your energy, re-organize your mind, and just enjoy the day to however you want (as long as it makes you happy) is just as important as working hard (you need the energy to work and focus anyways). XD
This is Jack-Jack saying, until tomorrow... Good Night!
